Encounter with the President
Created By: Singleton, Kathleen On Mon, Apr 19, 2010 04:37 PM
Recently, I had the opportunity of a life time! American Nurses Association (ANA) President Rebecca Patton's office contacted me about a ticket to attend a President of the United States (POTUS) Event. President Barack Obama held a Health Care Reform rally in Strongsville, Ohio. I ended up with a front row spot on the stage, literally a few feet, away from the podium.

President Obama has met with nursing representatives and the ANA President over a dozen times since taking office. As nursing consistently ranks as one of the most trusted professions in America, it is little suprise that the president would seek input from nursing leaders. Medical-Surgical Nurses comprise about 30% of all nurses practicing in the United States. I am very excited and proud to be a nurse. Nurses of all specialties, coming together, strengthens our voice, amplifies our advocacy for patients and puts the care in caring!
